Rare plant from mediterranean climate regions that makes a big, bold statement in the garden. Mounds of ferny foliage, like giant fennel leaves, are produced from late autumn/early winter and build in the first year as the plant matures. This foliage carries through summer if there is water available, otherwise in dry locations it will undergo a summer dormancy. In the third year a huge flower spike up to 3m tall is covered with acid yellow flowers attracting pollinators from near and far! Will set seed and die however the multitude of offspring more than makes up for the loss. Plant with autumn flowering bulbs or winter deciduous plants. 1.5mH x 1.5mW
