While the mention of 'ívy' in gardening circles elicits horror stories of houses, garages, children and Nana being swallowed whole by a marauding, clinging thug plant. Certainly if you turn your back on ivy for a few years, it does tend to grow so well, the word 'thug' invariably arises. But think of Cristata ivy as the law abiding cousin of the outlaw Hedera clan. In fact it is so well behaved, you may actually wonder if it's comatose. Now for those that have done battle with a villainous Hedera, you probably start having nightmarish flashbacks as the sight of lobed leaves. But if you are contemplating dipping your toe into the rogue world of ivy, then Cristata is a genteel way to begin. Grows well in shade to morning sun.
