Although it's common name is tree spurge, dendroides has only ever reached 1.5m tall in my garden; more like a medium sized shrub. But it has a tree like shape with a singular trunk from which branches multiple stems clothed in mid green foliage. It's at the end of these branches that the inflorescence develops over winter. Flowering from mid winter in the Perth hills the show continues into spring, finally finishing with seed pod development in mid spring. Prune after flowering to prevent seed development if you desire or are near bushland. Winter growing and summer dormant in dry conditions; it's an excellent choice for gardeners with limited water availability.
