An eyecatching Salvia when in flower, with inflorescence to 50cm high. It takes 12 months for the plant to settle in the garden, I suspect as energy is put into establishing the root system. By the second spring it produces an enormous wand of flowers with repeat blooming until the heat sets in over summer. It then settles into a semi-statsis, waiting until conditions are again conducive to its floral eruption. If you want a showstopping Salvia, Shangri-La has it in spades! Some afternoon shade in Perth's summer is best although full sun would be fine in cooler areas and a weekly water is adequate during hot, dry weather.
