This salvia comes from the mountains of Somalia, hence the species epithet. A very upright growing plant, it's best pinched out regularly when young to encourage it to send more shoots from the base. Mid green leaves with sky blue flowers produced over winter, into spring and then some spot flowering during the hot weather. It will flush again with flowers in autumn. Copes well with part shade, in fact in really hot locations, afternoon shade keeps the foliage looking best. Tolerates dry soils but actually is happier in lightly moist soils. This salvia is really useful for those half sun/shade spots near the house or around evergreen trees. 1.3mH x 0.7mW
